This recipe yields one dozen egg rolls with 1-1/2 cups of dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped dill pickles
  • 4 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 14 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Oil for deep-fat frying

Dipping Sauce:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Directions

Step 1: Brown the beef

In a large skillet, over medium heat, brown the beef with the onions and garlic until it is no longer pink and the onions are tender—about 4 to 5 minutes. Drain the beef and onion mixture to remove any excess fat. Draining the fat will ensure the egg rolls cook up crispy and don’t become soggy once they cool. Return to the skillet.

Step 2: Add mix-ins

Stir in the shredded cheese, pickles, crumbled bacon, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, ketchup, salt and pepper. Then remove the skillet from the heat.

Editor’s Tip: While this recipe sticks closely to the original cheesecake factory recipe, don’t be afraid to customize the filling with other burger toppings you enjoy. Diced sauteed mushrooms and Swiss with crumbled bacon would be divine, or try a spicy burger twist with salsa, pepper jack and diced avocado.

Step 3: Fill

With one corner of an egg roll wrapper facing you, place about a third-cup of filling just below the center of the wrapper. Make sure to cover the remaining wrappers with a damp paper towel until ready to use, so they don’t dry out.

Step 4: Fold and roll

Fold the bottom corner of the wonton wrapper over the filling (as you would for these wonton mozzarella sticks). Then, moisten the remaining wrapper edges with a beaten egg before folding the side corners in toward the center over the filling. To finish, roll up tightly and press the end to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 5: Fry

In a deep skillet or deep fryer, heat the oil to 375°F. Fry egg rolls, a few at a time, until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes, occasionally turning to cook evenly on all sides. Remove to drain on paper towels. Repeat. (Don’t miss these top tips, so you can deep-fry with confidence.)

You can keep the egg rolls warm before serving by transferring them to a wire rack positioned over a baking sheet and placing them in a warm oven.

Step 6: Make it saucy

In a small bowl, combine the dip recipe ingredients and stir to combine. Serve beside warm egg rolls. Enjoy! For dessert, serve this copycat of The Cheesecake Factory’s chocolate mousse cheesecake.

Tips for Making Cheeseburger Egg Rolls

What kind of dipping sauces should I serve?

While we can’t get enough of the dipping sauce The Cheesecake Factory serves with their top-rated cheeseburger egg rolls, it’s far from the only option. This copycat Chick-fil-A sauce would be a five-star combination, as well as this curry mayo dipping sauce and any one of these 10 barbecue sauce recipes.

Can the egg rolls be made gluten-free?

Yes! For gluten-free cheeseburger egg rolls, swap the traditional wonton wrapper for spring roll wrappers. Spring roll wrappers vs. egg roll wrappers are made with rice flour rather than regular wheat flour, so they’re typically safe for those who need to avoid gluten. If you are especially sensitive, we recommend checking the label to ensure the wrappers have been processed in a facility that is gluten-free certified.

Can you make these in an air fryer?

When we make The Cheesecake Factory copycat recipes, we stick closely to the recipe. That being said, we have not tried making these cheeseburger egg rolls in an air fryer before, so it would be an experiment.

However, we imagine it could be done using this air fryer egg roll recipe as a guide. Try cooking at 400°F in a single layer spritzed with cooking spray for 8 to 12 minutes. Turn once, spritz with additional cooking spray, and air fry for an additional 4 to 6 minutes until golden brown.
