Nothing Phone 1 is getting an update, but maybe not the one you're hoping for
You’ll have to wait a bit longer for Android 14 beta
In January, Nothing’s first smartphone, the Nothing Phone 1 officially made its way to the United States. The highly anticipated phone offers a clean Android skin with no bloatware and a unique, premium design that sets it apart from its competition. We’ve also already started to hear things about the company’s second phone, Nothing Phone 2, which is expected to carry over the transparent rear glass design while adding a larger battery and better camera, ultimately making the device a more premium offering than its first release.
The Google Pixel 7a is rumored to launch alongside the Pixel Tablet and the Pixel Fold at Google I/O 2023 in a few days. However, almost everything about the phone has leaked in all its glory, including hands-on images, marketing materials, and more. On its part, Google has only confirmed a new Pixel phone launch for May 11 in India. Now, adding insult to injury, teardown and first impression videos of Google's upcoming mid-ranger have also popped up online ahead of its debut.
The OnePlus Nord 3 could bring back this surprisingly useful retro feature
You won't need to look for that lost remote in the crevices of the couch anymore
Long before smart TVs and streaming sticks had their own dedicated smartphone apps for controlling them, many phones had IR blasters that could emulate a TV's remote. While the vast majority of smartphones did away with that feature many years ago, we just might be seeing it again soon, with the upcoming OnePlus Nord 3 rumored to feature IR support.
Google officially reveals the Pixel Fold ahead of I/O 2023
New renders showcase the foldable Google says is ‘Coming soon’
We've been tracking the Pixel Fold for months, and recent leaks have seemed to point toward a Google I/O 2023 announcement on May 10. Now, after Google unexpectedly tweeted a render video and set a product page live, the foldable has gone official.
It seems like nearly every phone manufacturer is trying to release its own foldable device. Between Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Google's elusive (but maybe not for much longer) Pixel Fold, everyone wants in on the action. We've already heard to expect OnePlus launching its first foldable phone this year, and now the release date could be closer than ever.
The Galaxy S23 FE could have a major camera upgrade in store
It will reportedly ship with a 50MP camera, matching the regular S23
The Fan Edition phones are a more affordable version of Samsung's greatest phones, and they typically have decent cameras, although they are not traditionally on par with their flagship counterparts. The Galaxy S20 FE and S21 FE, for example, shared the same 12MP main sensor, whereas their more expensive siblings had a 64MP primary camera. If Samsung does plan to continue the Fan Edition line with a Galaxy S23 FE, it is likely that the new model will have an upgraded camera similar to the vanilla Galaxy S23 and S23+, as per a new rumor.
Nothing Phone 2 hype season kicks off with mysterious close-up video
Nothing has posted the first teaser of the “premium” Phone 2
Carl Pei-owned Nothing created quite a hype for its first smartphone in 2022, the Nothing Phone 1. This was despite the phone's limited availability in selected European and Indian markets and the device itself being average at best due to its modest internals. Sure, its transparent design made it stand out from the best mid-range Android phones, but the software experience was a letdown. For 2023, the company has confirmed the Nothing Phone 2 will see a wider launch and use a premium Qualcomm chip. With the phone rumored to debut soon, Nothing has begun creating hype around it.
Motorola’s ‘Ultra’ foldable won’t pack ultra specs, according to the latest leak
Detailed specs of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra have leaked
Despite the limited success of its Razr foldables, Motorola has not given up on the lineup. This year, rumors suggest the company will expand the Razr 2023 series with two new additions with a slight name tweak, the Razr 40 and the Razr 40 Ultra. Renders of the latter have already leaked, showcasing its massive cover display. Motorola is also teasing the impending launch of the foldables. And now, a new leak has detailed the internal specs of the Razr 40 Ultra.
Motorola's new 2023 lineup has something for everyone — except foldable fans
You'll have to keep waiting for the Razr you really want
It's been just over two years since LG left the smartphone market behind, and as we learned in 2022, Motorola was the company that stepped up and managed to capture a majority of that space in the market. It's looking like 2023 is its busiest year yet, too. In addition to the recently-launched (and surprisingly good) ThinkPhone, the Moto Razr seems due for another turn in the ever-growing foldables war. Motorola isn't forgetting about its more familiar lineups though, and today, we're getting a brand-new Edge-branded flagship alongside two new G-series entries.
Google confirms new Pixel phone launch for May 11
Google India shared an image of something that has got to be the Google Pixel 7a
Thanks to leaks and rumors, the Google Pixel 7a is all but confirmed to launch at Google I/O 2023 on May 10, and now, Google has added some fuel of its own to its open secret. Google India has confirmed on Twitter that "the latest phone engineered by Google'' is launching on May 11. It's coming to Indian Amazon competitor Flipkart on that same date, and the tweet shows a blurred out phone that sure looks 100% in line with the Google Pixel 7a renders we’ve seen so far.

Google Pixel Fold stops by the FCC en route to launch
Network and wireless protocol compatibility ensured
Whatever's happening at Google I/O in just nine days, the Pixel Fold is all but certain to be a part of the festivities. So far as we can tell, there's practically only crumbs that we can gain from further intelligence grabs at this point since we already know how Google's first foldable phone will look inside and out. Still, with some FCC documents about the Pixel Fold going public, we might as well try and glean something new out of all this.

Paranoid Android gets better on Nothing Phone 1 with Topaz v2 release
The Zenfone 9 gets its first crack at the Android 13 ROM
Along with LineageOS, Paranoid Android is among the last few popular AOSP-based ROMs still being actively developed. While LineageOS is known for its feature set, Paranoid Android is famous for delivering a smooth and stable experience. The latter started its Android 13 journey in October 2022 with stable Topaz builds beginning to drop this past February albeit only for selected devices. Since then, the dev team has slowly expanded its list of supported devices with timely new additions. In the last couple of weeks, the Paranoid Android Topaz-supported device roster has grown quite a bit with the addition of several Poco and Xiaomi phones.
See how slick the Galaxy Z Fold 5's rumored hinge may be with these new renders
Maybe we won't need to mind the gap after all
Samsung is expected to unveil two new foldables this year — the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Much of the talk surrounding the two phones has been about the upgraded cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. But that doesn't mean the rumor mill has been quiet about its larger sibling. We're now coming across a handful of sharp-looking renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 ahead of its rumored July reveal.

We just discovered that someone had posted the latter for sale online, consequently leaking it in all its glory.
Samsung might add in-house zoom cameras to upcoming Galaxy phones
New Isocell trademarks suggest the company will add zoom cameras to its lineup
Samsung has its fingers in many pies, one of which is smartphones. The company makes some of the best Android phones on the market today, like the Galaxy S23 series, Z Flip 4, and Z Fold 4. Samsung uses a mix of Sony IMX sensors and its proprietary Isocell cameras on some of these high-end phones, which play a big role in their commercial success. A recent trademark request from the brand now suggests it will go all-in with Isocell cameras on upcoming hardware.
Samsung’s April 2023 security patch is live for the Galaxy S20 series in the US
The update is also available for the S21, S22, S23, and more
Read update
Samsung has consistently beaten Google in rolling out the latest monthly security patch for its devices. And unlike the big G, the company typically follows a set pattern, with the update usually going live at the beginning of the month or sometimes even a day or two before that. In Europe, the Galaxy S23 series was the first phone in Samsung's lineup to get the April 2023 patch. In the US, though, the Korean giant is commencing the April security patch's rollout with its 2022 foldables: the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4.
